Team JMC Hit the North 450 bike riders Hit the North in a twelve hour endurance race on July 19th. JMC was a main sponsor of the race which proved one of the best, and muddiest, cycling events of the summer so far. Thousands of pounds was raised which will be donated to the charities: Medequip4kids, BTCV (Voluntary work maintaining local footpaths and trails) and SLBG (South Lancashire Bat Group). The 8.4 mile course, set at the back of the JMC Riverside office, included woodland singletrack, cobbles, challenging climbs and sections through long-forgotten ornamental gardens. After the exhausting contest riders were able to wind down with refreshment and a DJ at the campsite. A number of Team JMC members including managing director, Andrew Burgess competed in the race and set the benchmark for endurance fitness. Andrew Burgess commented: “JMC is a company committed to the local area and promoting a healthy workplace and was therefore proud to support Hit the North 2008. The day was a great success with a considerable number of employees battling it out on the course and a good number of the rest spectating.” The event will be held again next summer when organisers will be hoping for drier weather.
