Corporate Telecommunications drive online sales forward with JMC IT

Corporate Direct Europe Ltd was founded in 1994 by Managing Director Tony Molloy.  Thirteen years and a major rebrand later the company is now trading as Corporate Telecommunications and has achieved record growth year on year.  The company specialise in supplying headsets, handsets, audio conferencing, call recording and voice and data installation equipment to SMEs, corporate and trade customers across the UK.  JMC has worked with Corporate Telecommunications for over 9 years and supply the company with a wide range of IT solutions including network support, business management solutions and bespoke development

Following the companies first £1m sales-out month (March 2007) and a predicted turnover of £11.5m (2007) this case study highlights one of the areas in which JMC’s solutions have contributed to the continued development of the company.

Situation

Following the rebrand two years ago ambitious growth plans were put in place.  Online sales were considered a key contributor in realising the desired growth and as a result a secure and accurate e-commerce solution was needed.

Chan Bansal, Business Development Manager at Corporate Telecommunications approached web solutions specialists Live Information Systems to develop the content management framework to manage the new website.  In addition to this Chan wanted to ensure that the new website was linked to the companies warehousing, stock management and accounting system, Pegasus Opera II.  Chan explained: “It was vital that our online service linked directly to our business management software.  I needed to guarantee that accurate, real-time information was available both internally and for our clients – JMC was the obvious partner to choose.  They had implemented and supported Opera II for us and had the required expertise and experience to develop the system as needed.”

Implementation

JMC embarked on the first stage of development in 2005.  This development focused on integrating Pegasus Opera II and the website to reflect an accurate picture of stock availability, delivery status and accounts information.

The key features of the integration have allowed:
- Stock level visibility for clients
- Order traceability
- Secure, personalised account access
- Stock level management and reporting
- Increased ROI due to reduction in sales and administrative time needed to take orders

Results

Since the development of the website and its integration online sales have risen rapidly.  In 2006 the total online sales were £170k; in the first 5 months of 2007 the sales have already exceeded the £500k mark.   The website is now undergoing further re-design and development work to ensure its consistency with the brand developments.
